Teresa: Well, I was speaking more about our misplaced faith in them (our own sin, if you will), but the founding fathers were just men, with all the human frailties, excesses, sins and failures that all humans have. Some, as you say, were Masons and thus trying to establish that society without God that is well underway. But most were just men of their time, a time awash in revolution and false philosophies. And they were men without the guidance of Holy Mother Church and thus could be expected to "create" something which would further undermine authority (separation of Church and state, anyone?). Their sin, like ours, was based on pride and a refusal to recognize God's dominion in all things. Thanks for reading and commenting.
