Ukraine, The DeceptiCON'S Waterloo
The Hulking, Fast Food Blobistan That 'Muricah Has Become Cannot Be "Reformed" And Isn't Worth The Effort. On St Benedict's Feast, Let Us Commit To Building Many Monte Cassino's From The Rubble
“The catholic principle of republicanism [is] that every people may establish what form of government they please and change it as they please, the will of the nation being the only thing essential…Such a government is evidently restrained to very narrow limits of space and population. I doubt if it would be practicable beyond the extent of a New England township.” - Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor of Caroline County and Isaac Tiffany, 1816
Who knew TJ could use “catholic” in a sentence in a respectful way!? He is of course writing of the Catholic system of Subsidiarity & Solidarity that was heavily borrowed from to make ‘Muricah the “Shining City On The Hill”. (see Richard Gamble’s excellent In Search of The City On The Hill-The Unmaking of An American Myth)
‘Muricah, the “Shining City On A Hill”, as we had it pumped into our noggins as lil’ chirrens back in the 60’s and 70’s, was gone then but the facade was intact. Today, the Golden Arches as ersatz hills are all that visibly remains “shining” and then only at night. How fitting that Mickey D’s and her Arches isn’t going to allow Russians to become QP with Cheese addicted candidates for morbid obesity, diabetes 2 and pancreatic cancer. This is of course a by-product of our demonic empire’s Waterloo, the completely corrupt, industrial crime factory known as Ukraine. Jefferson’s pal George Washington was correct.
Why, by interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe, entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, Rivalship, Interest, Humour or Caprice? ’Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent Alliances, with any portion of the foreign world—So far, I mean, as we are now at liberty to do it—for let me not be understood as capable of patronising infidility to existing engagements. (I hold the maxim no less applicable to public than to private affairs, that honesty is always the best policy). I repeat it therefore, let those engagements be observed in their genuine sense. But in my opinion, it is unnecessary and would be unwise to extend them.
So Was Adams, TJ, Madison, Monroe, JQA, Pierce, Cleveland, Coolidge and the last great [r]epublican statesman Senator Robert Taft. Even in Taft’s time though, the Hill had been sold and made home to what I call “Bourgie Development Dwellers” (BWW’s) by usurious mortgager’s (see IAWL’s Mr. Potter) and possessed “Ad Men” hawking smokable poison and “entertainment”. But all of that could have been scuttled by sane people dealing with the reality that becoming a military empire would make the people war-like and indiscriminate killing an ironic and sick “way of life”. This is where Frank Wright comes in.
Wright has a must read and then re-read essay on his Substack: The Grand Illusion. Here’s one of the many, brutal truth’s in his piece.
To be processed by the machine is to realise you are to it a kind of disease vector to be isolated and neutralised. The institutions of which we made these bureaucratic machines are no longer under anyone’s control and serve mainly to perpetuate themselves. They are well branded, virtualised concepts of what we once imagined them to be. To confront the reality is to be estranged from any reasonable expectation of health care, civic duty, legal probity, military efficiency, government competence.
We believe in principles that are not practised. The belief we have in our institutions is the belief in a ghost that no longer haunts the buildings that they occupy. Our institutions are not merely incompetent, nor rotten. They have ceased to exist in the way we once knew them. The show goes on, preserved on the screen of the popular mind, despite long being over. Imagine you are watching a repeat of a cherished television broadcast.
In my title I invoked St Benedict the “Father” of Western Monasticism. Rod Dreher famously or infamously depending on whose side you’re on has pleaded for a “Benedict Option” as a remedy for empire but Dreher’s laudable effort doesn’t capture the Catholicity that is at the heart of St Benedict’s acts. The following comes from the “official site” of Abbazia de Montecassino.
On the pagan summit [of Monte Cassino] remained an ancient temple to Jupiter, an altar to Apollo, Roman guardian towers, pagan idols, a sacred grove, and a cyclopean wall. Having been granted the property from Placid's father Tertullus, a Roman patrician, they began construction on the hilltop above Cassino. St. Benedict confronted the pagan remains, destroying the idols and converting the Temple of Jupiter into a church dedicated to St. Martin of Tours, founder of monasticism in France in the 4th century. The church would have been modestly sized, around 7 X 7 meters and able to hold about 30 monks. Above the altar to Apollo they built an oratory dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The rectangular oratory had bigger dimensions at 7.6 x 15.25 meters…
This was by any account a modest project that had a singular goal in mind: provide a place for the love and devotion to Our Lord and his Church while living an austere life under His Kingship (and St Benedict’s “rule). Dom Prosper Gueranger, the Abbot of Solesmes wrote of Benedict’s Rule.
This “Rule” once written—and all others gradually give place to it, as the stars are eclipsed when the sun has risen. The West was peopled with Monasteries; and from these Monasteries flowed upon Europe all those blessing which have made it the privileged quarter of the globe.
It has obvious religious benefits for those who still follow St Benedict but it can have tremendous benefit for us if we just look at it correctly: the “shining city on the hill” of a new Christendom here on this continent requires localized elbow grease with the family’s eyes firmly turned toward heaven, not “progress” or “modernism” and certainly not “empire”. Frank Wright taps into this in The Grand Illusion.
Progress is a religion of the victims of Modernism. It is the false salvation of the desperate, broken by despair of humanity and of the world. A kind of fusion of self destruction and desire, it fetishises the decay produced by its thanaterotic frenzy. It leaves us feeling alone, filthy, and desolate as it teaches us to despise the fine.
Despair arises from a tremendous disenchantment with the promises of Modernism itself, which has liberated the worst in Man at the expense of everything fine. It has reduced the world to a fantasy based on a mistake, which is to have any faith in humanity at all. This is the religion of Man. It is Modernism. It cannot make good on its promises. It is like a humiliated gambler, who reaches for his pistol having lost a game he was not compelled to play. The table overturns and the bullets begin to fly.
When the smoke and fury settles into ruin the game is still lost.
Progress is fuelled by hatred and it will not stop with piecemeal revisions to the canon. The aim of cancel culture is to cancel culture. It is doing well as it moves to the state-actor level. [emphasis mine]
The ‘Murican empire’s Waterloo is at hand and events of biblical magnitude are happening all around us. Let us, gentlemen, ask Our Lady and St Benedict’s intercession for the work that is upon us, take it up and leave the crumbling ‘Murican empire to those who think that Titanic’s don’t sink and empires last forever.
Sancte Benidicte, ora pro nobis!
I have heard many opinions from different Catholic Philosophers and Intellects. some say you should not retreat from the world , like the desert fathers of old, you should engulf yourself in society and fight. take the offensive and convert this country to Christ one disciple at a time. I being neither a Philosopher nor an Intellectual , believe that you cannot stop the Titanic from sinking! you must get as many souls off as you can, including yourself.
What would an “American Putin”—a brave and competent leader who put the interests of ordinary Americans first—do? Like Putin, he would focus on defending his nation’s borders. He would forget about policing the world. He would whip the oligarchs into submission. He would encourage a long-term effort to restore traditional spiritual and religious values. He would rebuild our economy and infrastructure. He would have the nation stockpile gold to back its currency. He would refuse to let Israel completely control our Middle East policy. He would tell the New World Order to go to hell.
