Trump's IVF Mandate Is How You Snatch Defeat From The Jaws of Victory
His attempt to embarrass Ron Desantis by backing the ghastly Florida Amendment 4 is just plain stupid
RE: Trump's Mandatory, Federal IVF Funding and campaigning to defeat Florida's abortion ban via Amendment 4: All this has happened POST RF Kennedy Jr.'/Nicole Shanahan's endorsement so MAYBE this is a shrewd move to woo libertarians into the Trump tent.
If so... Then host an event for cult of death libertarians. The event yesterday was billed as "On The Economy" (I know, because I broadcast it on The CRUSADE Radio Network as such) and all were invited to attend/broadcast. He framed the gubbmint funded IVF proposition “because we want more babies”, like it was a PRO-BABY initiative when in fact its a patently unconstitutional canard. It’s also an abomination to the pro-life proposition that “life begins at conception”.
Here, Britt and Cruz do the heavy lifting for Democrats seeking to make mothers and fathers optional in the family. The left has made multiple attempts to redefine infertility, mandate IVF access for single and same-sex couples, and insist that subsidized access to #BigFertility is the next front in LGBT equality. A “right to parenthood” via a “right to IVF” is a critical step in the overhaul of the nuclear family, the only family form that unites a child’s mother and father for life.
You see, when you’re creating a baby in glass — in vitro — there’s no need to only use the gametes of the child’s own mother and father. It’s just as easy to swap in a third party’s egg or sperm, and thereby intentionally separate a child from one or both genetic parents at the moment of conception — parents who are statistically the safest, most connected to, most protective of, and most invested in the child.
While we don’t know how many children are made motherless and fatherless through IVF (because #BigFertility operates virtually regulation-free), estimates range between 30,000 and 60,000 per year. We do know that there are entire international organizations that rely on IVF to create intentionally motherless children. Those motherless and fatherless children will disproportionately struggle with identity issues. Turns out, it’s very hard to answer the question “Who am I?” when you cannot answer the question, “Whose am I?”
If you want "more babies" as he said, then start dismantling the drain on the middle class that the Federal Gubbmint and its "withholding taxes" have become, i.e.:
MAKE AFFORDABLE FAMILIES GREAT AGAIN
Would have been better and not alienated anyone. The endorsement for "more weeks [of abortion]" in Florida is the one that breaks the pro-life camel's back. That's the whole, as John Boehner would say, "crap sandwich", shebang.
Did anyone in Trump's orbit not bring up what happens if FL Amendment 4 goes down in flames? The only people his "more weeks" statement then appeals to are cult of death-ists. MAKES NO SENSE. Rod Dreher comments:
The fact that Donald Trump — the man we can thank for delivering the Supreme Court majority that overturned Roe — is single-handedly destroying the pro-life movement as a force in Republican politics is emerging as one of the most important political stories of our era. To restate the point: he’s doing it entirely because he has judged that he needs to do this to win in post-Dobbs America. What evidence can you give that he is wrong? In a democracy, politicians say and do what they have to say and do to win. Kamala Harris’s pathetic interview on CNN (more on which in a second) showed her backing away from a number of the public positions she has held and advocated for. She’s transparently hypocritical, but she’s doing this, of course, because she wants to win. Are we shocked that Trump does too?
We are seeing what it means to have lost the culture war. If you look at the polls of how younger voters think of the cultural issues that have been at the center of our politics over the past generation — abortion, gay rights — you will see how badly we have lost. If SCOTUS overturned Obergefell tomorrow, returning the issue to the states, I bet there is not a single state, no matter how ruby-red, that would vote to end same-sex marriage. And if there were one today, within a decade, even that state will have flipped. That’s simply reality. I hate it, you may hate it, but that’s where we are.
Alito in Dobbs said the 14th Amendment guaranteed the unborn the same "due process" that Roe claimed women had exclusively (more people should read it to understand the decision and stop bloviating about this "return to the states" nonsense). There's NOTHING in the 14th Amendment that expresses positive rights to anything that didn't already exist at the time it was ratified. Capice!?
So yes, there COULD be a FEDERAL, "Constitutional", 14th Amendment based BAN on abortion per the "due process" clause, yessir, sure could be. Again, then a FEDERAL officer i.e. a President wouldn't have any authority on the matter in any state because murder would be restored as illegal under the states that ratified the Constitution. This would include the murder of the unborn.
Trump also keeps invoking Ronald Reagan as the patron saint of “Rape, Incest and The Life of The Mother, “exceptions”. Will somebody please “fact check” him and tell him that Reagan rued the day the hippy leftards in Commiefornia conned him into signing that law in 1968 and that by 1982, he was so ardently pro-life that he wrote a books about his lament and the way forward for America and the soon to be born.
Trump used to campaign and boast he was on the side of "our great Constitution". Then he should remain there, alpha male up, and tell Tulsi Gabbard and Nicole Shanahan that real American women have lots of babies and real men build a flourishing civilization and government that makes raising them a natural, attainable part of all American's lives.
THAT would indeed, Make America Great Again.
