“And you’ll see that 1984, won’t be like 1984.” - Apple’s famous “1984” ad that introduced Macintosh.
I have been an #Apple-only user since I bought my first Mac, an LCII, in 1989. I still have a (not factory sealed) iPhone 1.0 Revision A; I have a literal Mac museum in my garage including a MacBook Pro 1.0 (the Shark!), a G3 and G4 tower, a 2009 Mac Pro and 2012 Mac Pro Tower; but this Open AI bullshit is just that. Apple's core fan base, geezer professionals like me, don 't want or need T2 completing my sentence or cyphering math problems before my old grey matter can.
I want the OS to work on the best hardware possible so I can continue creating works with my name and professionally honed skills and creativity. To bet the company's future on AI is a slap in the face of diehard Mac OS fans and users. Then there's the ridiculous claim that all this is "safe and secure", which is more bull-hockey as elonmusk points out.
When Steve Jobs came back in 1997 and made OS8 a great leap with Mac OSX in the works, we were proud of Apple's 8% share of PC's because we knew the hardware and OS were simply the best. This gang of unimaginative losers running Apple doesn't deserve an 8% market share.
Forgive them, Steve, for they know not what they do (AI did your company in!).
The company has now BECOME, 1984.
