My Trip To UMASS & The JFK Museum/Library
The American Spirit was alive and well in JFK's lifetime, we should seek to get it back
I am traveling today, after speaking at a conference in New Hampshire and visiting my baby girl in Boston. Yesterday, while waiting to head to UMASS and the JFK Museum and Library this shameful message from Stalina Harris appeared on my x.com account.
Is this batsh*t crazy woman TRYING to lose!? Does she really believe that the human race would be better off without Europeans daring to cross an ocean exploring the “New World”? Does the owman that claims to want the Presidency really want Americans to sanitize our past so we can rid ourselves of the stain of white guilt? What date and what historical person does she think we can properly begin to be proud of and recount our history? Margaret Sanger? Dishonest Abe Lincoln? Malcolm X? The claim that Columbus was a wretched villain who moonlit as a genocidal maniac is a scandalous lie. I could pull from thousands of source to smash the claim and chose this 2022 piece from the National Catholic Register.
The Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María set sail Aug. 3, 1492. The men aboard these ships needed tremendous courage to continue traveling westward (by sailing south, that is) across those uncharted seas. Their spirits were sustained by singing the Salve Regina at sunset every day, led by their captain.
In the very early hours of Oct. 12, 1492, on the Feast of Our Lady of the Pillar, one of the crewmen looking westward finally shouted: “Tierra! Tierra!”
This voyage was the beginning of permanent contact between Europe and the Americas. The great agricultural, technological and cultural exchange that followed permanently transformed our world. Every country in the Americas, including our very own, owes its current existence to this very event as a stepping stone. Christendom’s borders, after having receded for more than 800 years, had expanded as never before.
Most Americans don’t know because they get their news from Facebook and Yahoo that Columbus was chosen over 4 other Italians by President Harrison, including DaVinci, Dante and Michaelangelo. Historian William Connell recently wrote about Columbus Day
“When thinking about the Columbus Day holiday it helps to remember the good intentions of the people who put together the first parade in New York. Columbus Day was first proclaimed a national holiday by President Benjamin Harrison in 1892, 400 years after Columbus’s first voyage. The idea, lost on present-day critics of the holiday, was that this would be a national holiday that would be special for recognizing both Native Americans, who were here before Columbus, and the many immigrants—including Italians—who were just then coming to this country in astounding numbers. It was to be a national holiday that was not about the Founding Fathers or the Civil War, but about the rest of American history. Like the Columbian Exposition dedicated in Chicago that year and opened in 1893, it was to be about our land and all its people. Harrison especially designated the schools as centers of the Columbus celebration because universal public schooling, which had only recently taken hold, was seen as essential to a democracy that was seriously aiming to include everyone and not just preserve a governing elite.”
I wonder if the current Vice Regime Leader of the United States knows that it was Columbus’s descendants, ITALIANS, after suffering the largest mass lynching in American history, who spurred President Harrison’s decision!? Speaking of Indigenous people’s here’s what Cortez and his “conquistadors” found them doing in Mexico City (thanks to Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto).
So, KingDude! WTH does all this have to do with the JFK Museum and Library and American Spirit!? Everything. Let’s start with an event that occurred Sunday. Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully launched and “returned safely to the Earth”, in Kennedy’s famous words, the Starship launch vehicle, watch.
The sheer genius behind this is simply stunning to contemplate to say nothing of the vision of the people responsible for it and anyone who doesn’t take a moment to silently say a little prayer for Elon Musk, a number that includes Kamala Harris, is an empty husk of a human being. Musk is singlehandedly restarting what Kennedy began. I was blessed to watch NASA’s various launched in the 1960’s as a child and as a 7 year old boy watched Aldrin and Armstrong walk on the moon. I have been a self described space nerd ever since. I have spent a lifetime being inspired by the circumstances of “choosing” to set the goal [of going to the moon], in Kennedy’s words ands then accomplishing it.
“We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”
Over 400,000 men and women worked on the Apollo project. To simply design and build the Centaur C-1 Engine that would power the mighty Saturn 5 booster required men working 3 daily shifts, 8 hours each, 7 days a week. The words of narrator Barry Corbin in the TBS Series Moonshot, whilst dealing with the challenge of figuring out how to fly the LEM, are appropriate here.
“President Kennedy had given us a mission…and we had a date with the moon”.
This is the American Spirit and for all his foibles and faults, and in the last half of the 20th Century, JFK was one of its grandest exemplars. People like Kamala Harris are the antithesis to this spirit. In her entire life, the woman has accomplished nothing other than parasitic spending of OPM, (Other People’s Money) and successfuo attempts at population control. She runs about boasting and bragging about the alleged wonders of performing abortions plus sex change surgeries and mutilations on children, while a significant proportion of them are “indigenous”!
The people who like Harris, hate this country and spend all their time tearing it down deserve public scorn, disbarment (cancellation!) and isolation; enough of this “to each his own” bullsh*t. Harris is emblematic of average American democrat today. Amoral, teet-suckling Malthusians who exist to literally depress and impair human flourishing in America. They can’t and haven’t inspired anyone to do anything constructive, productive or bold and imaginative. They have all the class and nobility of the Lannister clan from Game of Thrones with apologies to the Lannisters! I’ll close this brief report with three things, first, who do you think this is, leading the Columbus Day Parade, October 12, 1963?
Well, Hells Bells! That’s 17 year old, Commander Donald J. Trump of the New York Military Academy. Here’s the same Trump, yesterday, assuring patriots that Columbus’s Day will stand as long as he has anything to say about it, please note Trump’s reference to Columbus as “inspirational”.
Lastly, my daughter asked me what I thought about JFK after our 3 hour tour of his museum. I told her that I thought he was a flawed human being just like the rest of us but that I have grown an appreciation of the man as I have studied more about his life and I think, at the end of it all “he’s one of the good guys” and I mean that. His charm and macho charisma were what Americans needed at thye time of his entering politics. This is evident in this speech, I think his best, from Rice University, of September 12th, 1962. It’s called “The Moon Speech” but it’s a lot more than that . No democrat alive today has any of JFK’s moxie, I strain to identify, outside of Trump, a Republican who does, and boy howdy do we need someone with moxie at this moment.
